Hands-on field learning, enterprise skills, and systems thinking grounded in two decades of practical experience.
The VBA model is now one of Africa’s most recognised community-based extension innovations. Adopted by AGRA and integrated by governments, NGOs, seed companies, and private sector partners, it is being rolled out in more than 20 countries.
VBAs strengthen pluralistic extension systems, helping governments expand their reach and improve impact. Through training and strong partnerships, FIPS keeps the model low-cost, scalable, and effective. This is transforming how knowledge, markets, and technologies reach millions of smallholder farmers and supporting resilient rural economies across the continent.
FIPS supports partners in more than 15 Sub-Saharan African countries to adapt and adopt its extension, youth, and enterprise models to local contexts. FIPS works with NGOs, governments, private sector actors, and research organisations, ensuring models are locally owned and scalable.
FIPS supports partners across Sub-Saharan Africa to benefit from two decades of experience in delivering the Village-based Advisor model and other enterprise programmes
